REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICERS’
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 98 *IG’ amending the Salary Schedule effective June 1, 1998, for
classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 23, 1996, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 96-33 approving a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association
(CPOA). The term of the MOU is three (3) years and will expire on December 3 1, 1998.
The terms of the MOU with CPOA call for a 2% general wage increase effective June 1,
1998. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for classifications represented by
the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $ 128,500 for
the proposed FY 1998/99 budget. These funds have been included in the proposed
1998/99 Police Department operating budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFICATIONS
REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICERS’
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Police Officers’
Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding
wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period January 1,1996 to
December 3 1, 1998; and
WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement and submitted the
Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 2%
general wage increase effective June 1, 1998, and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included
in the Police Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 1997/98.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Police Department Salary Schedule set forth in Exhibit A,
attached hereto and made a part thereof, is adopted.
