RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No.%-Ib V accepting a $1,000 donation from
Thomas & Mary Louise Siersma.
Item Exolanation:
Thomas and Mary Louise Siersma are regular participants at the Senior
Center. On several occasions they have made a donation to the Center as
their way of acknowledging their support and appreciation for the programs.
Again, they request that the $1,000 donation be utilized to support special
events in the dining room and the Home Delivered Meals Program.
Senior Commission Recommendation:
At their meeting February 5, 1998, the Senior Commission unanimously
accepted the $1,000 donation. The Commission recommends that this
donation be deposited into the Senior Trust Fund to be utilized to celebrate
special occasions in the dining room and to support the Home Delivered
Meals Program.
Fiscal Impact:
The $1,000 donation has been deposited into the Senior Trust Fund Account
#14345675651.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-164
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF
ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000)
WHEREAS, Thomas and Mary Louise Siersma donated one
thousand dollars ($1,000) to the Carlsbad Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. That the City Council accepts the donation of one thousand dollars
($1,000) on behalf of the Senior Citizens of the City of Carlsbad.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Carlsbad held on the 2nd day of
June , 1998, by the following vote, to wit:

Dear Tom and Mary Louise:
I am challenged to effectively communicate to you our sincere
appreciation for your generous donation, and for the hours of support
you give to the Senior Center. Unfortunately, the words “thank you”
seem very inadequate.
It is people like you that make this Center a “special” place for the
many Seniors who come and participate.
