AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 4’8 - /6 7 approving contract documents, special provisions
and specifications; and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the Swim
Complex ADA Improvements, Contract No. FAC98-12.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In September 1996 the City entered into an agreement with Moon, Mayoras Architects to
review our ADA (American with Disabilities Act) transition plan, and prepare cost and time
estimates for the completion of the remaining ADA alterations identified in the transition
plan. That work was completed and the agreement was subsequently amended in June
1997 requesting the architects to prepare detailed plans and specifications for the
designated ADA improvements. Moon, Mayoras has completed the plans and
specifications for the Swim Complex facility and the project is now ready for implementation.
The estimated cost of these improvements is $60,000 including contingencies and the plans
are on file in the offices of Public Works/Facilities Management Division.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program, ADA Mandate
- City Facilities, account number 30070009060/34411900.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA APPROVING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, SPECIAL
PROVISIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE SWIM COMPLEX ADA
IMPROVEMENTS. CONTRACT NO. FAC 98-12.
WHEREAS, the contract documents, special provisions and specifications for the
furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary to implement the ADA Improvements
to the Swim Complex have been prepared and are on file in the Public Works/Facilities
Management Division and are incorporated by reference herein; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available for this project in the Capital Improvement
Program, project number 30070009060/34411900.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as
