RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 98- 1?/ accepting a bid and awarding a contract in the amount of $;
Wharton General Contractors for Fire Station No. 3 Renovation, Contract No. FAC98-9.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 7, 1998 the City Council approved the contract documents and special provis
specifications and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the Fire Statia
Renovation. Staffs estimate for this work was $45,000.
Three bids were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on May 21, 1998. The bid
included the base construction amount and Alternates A and B for cabinets and level
respectively. Staff recommends the contract be awarded to Wharton General Contrac
lowest responsive bidder, in the amount of $24,732 for the base amount and Alterni

RESOLUTION NO. 98-171
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 3 RENOVATION.
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NO. FAC98-9
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad, California for
Station No. 3 Renovation in accordance with Contract No. FAC98-9; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bid received for this project was subn
Wharton General Contractors in the amount of $24,732; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of this project is $31,000, including contingency funds
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the Capital Improvement Progn
Mandate - City Facilities project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Car
follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $24,732 by Wharton General Contractors Co. for the Fire Static
Renovation, Contract No. FAC98-9 is hereby accepted and the Purchasing 1
hereby authorized to execute a purchase order for this project.
3. The Mayor of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to e
contract for and on behalf of the City of Carlsbad.
