HD. yv CITY ATTY a? ’ CITY MGFi- Adopt Resolution No. 98*23@ accepting a contribution of $2,000 to the City of Carlsbad Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program from The Allstate Foundation and appropriating the funds for purchase of equipment and supplies. ITEM EXPLANATION: The Carlsbad Police Department received a contribution from the Southern California Region of The Allstate Foundation for the support of the DARE Program. The funds are to be used to purchase the light bars for the DARE van and Disney Production training v,ideos for junior high school and elementary school curriculum. These items were not included in the Fiscal Year 98-99 budget FISCAL IMPACT: None. The contributed funds are to be appropriated to purchase items which were not budgeted in the FY 98-99. EXHIBITS: 1. Resolution No. 98 d _a3E RESOLUTION NO. 98-238 2 3 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A DONATION OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE ALLSTATE FOUNDATION FOR THE DARE PROGRAM 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 WHEREAS, The Allstate Foundation donated two thousand dollars for the City of Carlsbad 3rug Abuse Resistance Education Program (DARE) ; and WHEREAS, The City Council wishes to accept this donation; and WHEREAS, The City Council wishes to appropriate the donation funds to purchase equipment and classroom supplies for the DARE Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council accept the donation of two thousand dollars on behalf of the zitizens of the City of Carlsbad. 3.
