ESTABLISHMENT OF PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMIT ON A PORTION OF
DEPT. CLK I HIDDEN VALLEY ROAD I CITY MGR.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-451, amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code, by the addition of Section 10.44.570, to establish a 40 mile per hour prima facie speed
limit upon Hidden Valley Road fi-om Camino De Las Ondas to its intersection with Palomar
Airport Road.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Ordinance No. NS-451 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on July
14, 1998. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance which would
then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published within
fifteen days, if adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-451
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
ADDITION OF SECTION 10.44.570 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA
FACIE 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON HIDDEN VALLEY ROAD FROM CAMINO DE LAS ONDAS TO ITS
INTERSECTION WITH PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
by the addition of Section 1044.570 to read as follows:
“I 0.44570 Hidden Vallev Road:
Upon Hidden Valley Road from Camino de las Ondas to its
intersection with Palomar Airport Road, the prima facie speed
limit shall be forty miles per hour.”
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption
and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to
be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
14th day of July , 1998, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 21st day of July , 1998 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Nygaard, Kulchin and Hall
