RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. B-294 accepting a $10,000 donation from the Carlsbad Arts
Associates.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Carlsbad Arts Associates is a non profit arts organization whose purpose is to support the
programs of the Carlsbad Arts Office. The $10,000 donation will be used for two different
Arts Office programs; $4,000 will be used towards the artist-designed gates for the Sculpture
Garden, and the remaining $6,000 will be used towards operation and exhibition expenses of
the new Carlsbad Gallery.
FISCAL IMPACT
The $10,000 donation will be placed in two different Arts Offke accounts. $4,000 will be
placed in the Arts Office General Arts donations account and $6,000 will be placed in the Arts
Office Gallery donations account.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
DONATION FROM THE CARLSBAD ARTS
ASSOCIATES
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Carlsbad Arts Associates is to support the City of (
Carlsbad Arts Office arts programs; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Associates is providing funds in the amount of $10,000 in
support of the City’s arts programs; and
WHEREAS, $4,000 will be used towards the artist-designed gates for the Sculpture
Garden and $6,000 will be used for the operation and exhibition expenses of the new Carlsbad
Gallery.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
follows:

That the above recitations are true and correct.
That the donation of $10,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates is hereby
accepted.
That $4,000 is deposited into the Arts Ofice General Arts donations account
and $6,000 is deposited into the Arts Office Gallery donations account and the
funds from both accounts are appropriated for use.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the 1
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 8 th day of September , 1998, by the following vote,
