RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.98 -30& accepting the construction of the Beach Access Stair
Reconstruction, Project No. 3511, as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a
Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City
Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On May 12, 1998, Sean Malek Engineering and Construction, Inc., was awarded a
contract in the amount of $91,467 for construction of the Beach Access Stair
Reconstruction, Project No. 3511. The project included reconstruction of the existing
concrete steps and installation of new handrails for the Ocean Street beach access
stairs and reconstruction of the edge beams on the two platforms and reconstruction of
the edge of the sidewalk at the Cherry Avenue beach access stairs.
Sean Malek Engineering and Construction, Inc., completed the work on July 28, 1998.
City forces have inspected said work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends
formal acceptance by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A summary of the final project cost is as follows:

Total: $137.973
Original Appropriation: $181;900
Remaining Balance: $ 43,927

I RESOLUTION NO. 98-308
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THE BEACH ACCESS STAIR RECONSTRUCTION,
PROJECT NO. 3511.
WHEREAS, the construction of the Beach Access Stair Reconstruction has been
satisfactorily completed; and
WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the construction of the Beach Access Stair Reconstruction, specifically
identified as Project No. 351 I, is deemed complete and hereby accepted.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to execute
the Notice of Completion and have same recorded.
4. That bonds will be released in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
