ESTABLISHMENT OF PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMIT ON A PORTION I DEPT. CLK I LAGUNA DRIVE I CITY MGR.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-457, amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code, by the amendment of Section 10.44.580, to establish a 30 mile per hour prima facie
speed limit upon Laguna Drive from State Street to its intersection with Jefferson Street.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Ordinance No. NS-457 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
September 22, 1998. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance
which would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance
published within fifteen days, if adopted.

2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44,
OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF
4 SECTION 10.44.580 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA FACIE 30 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON LAGUNA DRIVE FROM STATE STREET
5 TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH JEFFERSON STREET.
6 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
7 SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
8 by the addition of Section 10.44580 to read as follows:
9 “10.44580 Laauna Drive:
10 Upon Laguna Drive from State Street to its intersection with
Jefferson Street, the prima facie speed limit shall be thirty
11 miles per hour.”
12 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption
and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to
13 be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within
14 fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
15 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
16 22nd day of September , 1998, and thereafter,
17 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
