Receive presentation from San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) staff
regarding information available to the public on SANDAG internet site.

Council Member Nygaard has requested SANDAG staff to provide a presentation to the
City Council regarding information SANDAG is making available to the public through its
site on the internet.

Association of Governments
The 18 cities and county government are SANDAG serving as
the forum for regional decision-making. The Association builds
consensus, makes strategic plans, obtains and allocates
resources, and provides information on a broad range of topics
pertinent to the San Diego region’s quality of life. This website
provides extensive Census, Demographic and Economic
Forecasts, Criminal Justice, and Geographic Information
System (GIS) data in the form of ASCII files and ARC/INFO
export files.
Overall Work Program - The Overall Work Program
(OWP) describes SANDAG’s most important
responsibilities -- regional planning and policy-making,
allocating transportation funds, and maintaining the
regional information system.
TransDortation - information about this region’s
long-range and short-range transportation plans,
transportation trends and projections, transit route
profiles, average daily traffic book, traffic generators,
TransNet, RideLink
Regional Planning - activities consist of planning for
public facilities financing, housing, energy, land use,
growth management, open space / environmental /
habitat conservation, waste management, airport land
use, binational coordination, watershed / water quality,
and shoreline erosion.
Regional Information System - comprehensive regional
databases; includes Numbers Now, INFOs, Census,
Demographic and Economic Estimates, Regional
Growth Forecasts, Criminal Justice Data, Geographic
Information System Data Bases, and Computer
Hardware and Software
Criminal Justice Propram - The Criminal Justice
Research Division conducts comprehensive research
related to criminal justice issues, programs, and
strategies.
