ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. 98 * 3 27 , accepting donations of eight thousand two hundred
and ten dollars ($8,210) in merchandise and cash support of the 20th Annual International
Bodysurfing Championships.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The Recreation Department has been provided with donation of merchandise and cash totaling
eight thousand two hundred and ten dollars ($8,210) in support of the 20th Annual International
Bodysurfing Championships held August 8 and 9, 1998. Letters of appreciation have been sent
to the following organizations for their donations in support of the 20th Annual Bodysurfing
Contest.

The 20th Annual International bodysurfing Championships were held August 8 & 9, 1998 at South
Ponto Beach. There were 125 contestants in the Bodysurfing competition and 15 contestants in
the Bodyboarding Contest. The contest was open to any individual 12 years and older. The
merchandise has been distributed to all of the contest award winners.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds ($200) have been deposited into account #149-4503-5651 (Recreation Special Events).
The donation helped to offset the cost of providing this program and was used to purchase
awards for participants.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-329
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF MERCHANDISE AND CASH
VALUING A TOTAL OF EIGHT THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND
TEN DOLLARS ($8,210) IN SUPPORT OF THE 20TH ANNUAL
INTERNATIONAL BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WHEREAS, the 20TH Annual International Bodysurfing Championships were
held on August 8 & 9, 1998, at South Ponto Beach in Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the donations of merchandise
and cash totaling eight thousand two hundred and ten dollars ($8,210) a copy of
which is attached hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the generosity and
support of community vendors and organizations who donated to this program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the merchandise and financial
support totaling eight thousand two hundred and ten dollars ($8,210).
