HD. m CITY ATTY. ia CITY MGR- ADOPT Resolution No. 98 -335 authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract amendment between the City and the Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, for the reallocation of funds in various existing accounts. ITEM EXPLANATION: On July 28, 1998 the City Council directed staff to prepare a contract amendment between the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CCVB) that would reallocate $4000 from the Travel Show account and $10,000 from the Brochure account (a total of $14,000) into CCVB’s Advertising account. Additional advertising funds will be used to take advantage of publicity already being generated by the opening of Legoland, and will focus on informing prospective visitors about Carlsbad’s many other attractions. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact for this action. Funds will be moved administratively from the Travel Show and Brochure allocations to those designated for Advertising. EXHIBITS: 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to promote tourism and provide services to visitors to the City and has selected the Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to provide these services; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to reallocate existing Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau contract fknds to the Advertising account for the purposed of enhanced services; and WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has agreed to provide these additional services under the terms and conditions of the agreement attached hereto. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. RAUTENKRANZ, City Cle’kk (SEAL) -2- - AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AND THE CARLSBAD CONVENTION AND VISITOR’S BUREAU TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES RELATED TO THE PROMOTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD This Amendment is entered into and effective as of the +tLLsl ] / ” day of 1998, amending the agreement dated November 9, 1997 by and between the City of Carlsbad, a municipal corporation, hereinafter referred to as “City”, and Carlsbad Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, hereinafter referred to as, “CCVB” for promotional services required by the City of Carlsbad. RECITALS WHEREAS, the City and CCVB desire to amend the allocation of program funds in Section 58 of the attached agreement, whereby the allocation for the Travel Shows is reduced by $4,000 from $32,000 to $28,000, the allocation for Brochures is reduced by $10,000 from $25,000 to $15,000 and the allocation for Advertising is increased by the combined reduction of allocations by $14,000 from 848,000 to $62,000; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved this amendment on July 28, 1998. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of these recitals and the mutual covenants cbntained herein, City and CCVB hereby agree as follows: 1. The agreement shall be amended to reflect an increase to the Advertising Account allocation by $14,000 and a decrease to the Travel Show allocation by $4,000 and the Brochure allocation by $10,000. 2. All other provisions of the aforementioned agreement entered into on November 9, 1997, by and between City and CCVB shall remain in full force.and effect. 3. All requisite insurance policies to be maintained by the CCVB shall include coverage for the amended assignment. 212198 . .
