AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR
PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD/I-5 RIGHT TURN LANE
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 98 c 33 6 approving plans and specifications and authorizir
City Clerk to advertise for bids for the construction of the Palomar Airport Roadll-5 Right Turn Project No. 3268.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Plans and specifications to construct the Palomar Airport Roadll-5 Right Turn Lane have
completed. This project involves the reconstruction of the northbound on-ramp, relocation
northbound on-ramp signal, relocation of existing sidewalk, and construction of an adc
12-foot turn lane from Palomar Airport Road to northbound ramps. The majority I improvements will be within CALTRANS right-of-way and jurisdiction. CALTRANS has re\
and approved the plans and specifications and has issued an Encroachment Permit for this p

This project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA
Class 6 exempt activity.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer’s Estimate for the construction cost of Palomar Airport Road/l-5 Right Turn L
$204,000. A cost breakdown of the costs are as follows:
$60,000
Construction $204,000
Inspection/Administration (I 0% of Construction Costs) $20,400
Construction Contingencies (1 5% of Construction Cost) $30,600
$31 5,000
Funds in the amount of $322,000 are available for the construction of this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD/I-5 RIGHT TURN
LANE, PROJECT NO. 3268.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has detei
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct Palomar Airport Road/l-5 R
Lane;and
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for furnishing of all labor, materi
equipment, transportation and other expenses necessary or incidental of said project hi
prepared and are on file in the Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad
incorporated by reference herein; and
WHEREAS, available appropriations in the CFD #I fund are sufficient to corn1
project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents are on file in the offit
City Engineer.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to p
accordance with State law, a Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for the construction of
Airport Road/ld Right Turn Lane, Project No, 3268, in accordance with the plans, speci
and contract documents referred to herein.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
held on the 13th day of October , 1998 by the following vote, to wit:
