DEPT. FOR CARRILLO RANCH PHASE I
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. 9fl-&/ approving plans and specifications and authorizing the City
Clerk to advertise for bids for Phase I of the Carrillo Ranch, Project No. 3456-A.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
Plans and specification for the first phase of the Carrillo Ranch Park have been prepared and are
ready to go to bid.
The plans include the following improvements:
1. Perimeter wall along the north and south Park boundary.
2. Vinyl coated chain link fencing along the western Park boundary (through an open space
area).
3. Temporary chain link fencing along the east boundary of the Park (the “temporary” chain link
is being installed because it is in a location where future grading and improvements for
Phase II will occur).
4. Access and maintenance gates at appropriate locations.
5. Perimeter planting and irrigation along the outside of the wall to provide an additional barrier
and to help enhance the Park boundary aesthetically.
Any remaining funds from Phase I will be utilized to construct a waterline into the Ranch, minor
building renovations; and fire sprinklers for select structures. Plans are currently being prepared
for these items and a separate agenda bill authorizing these improvements will be forthcoming.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
The Planning Department has concluded that no environmental review is required for a perimeter
wall/fence and landscaping.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Engineer’s Estimate $382,216
Contingency (20%) 76,443
Inspection and Administration 15,000
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $473,659
Funds in the amount of $725,000 (Public Facility Fees) are available in the Carrillo Ranch
Phase I Capital Improvement Program account.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-341
A RESOLUTION OF THE CIN COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CARRILLO RANCH PHASE I, PROJECT NO. 3456-A.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct Carrillo Ranch Phase I, Project No.
3456-A; and
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for furnishing of all labor, material, tools,
equipment, transportation, and other expenses necessary or incidental of said project have
been prepared and are on file in the Recreation Department of the City of Carlsbad and are
incorporated by reference herein, and
WHEREAS, funding from the Public Facilities Fee account includes sufficient funds to
construct Carrillo Ranch Phase I and said project is included in the 1998-99 Capital
Improvement Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents are presented are hereby
approved.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Cartsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
publish, in accordance with State law, a Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for Carrillo Ranch
Phase I, Project No. 3456-A, in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contract
documents referenced to herein.

October City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 20th day of / , 1998, by the following vote to wit:
