RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends acceptance of work in accordance with Contract No. FAC98-9 as complete and
requests direction to the City Clerk to have the Notice of Completion recorded and to release the
bonds thirty five (35) days after recordation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On June 5,1998 the City Council awarded Contract No. FAC98-9 in the amount of $24,732 to
Wharton General Contractors, for the Fire Station No. 3 Renovation. The renovation included
installation of a central heating and air conditioning system, new carpet and vinyl flooring and some
minor structural modifications. There was one change order which increased the contract amount
by $4,658. The change order provided for the patching and skip troweling of approximately 1200 square feet of ceiling that was damaged during asbestos removal, the replacement of two solid core
doors and the replacement of a small amount of wall carpet that was omitted from the original scope
of work. The actual construction took a total of 45 working days from start to finish, is now complete
and the contractor’s work is acceptable to the Facilities Superintendent.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program, Account Number
30070009060/35091900.
