RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 59 -6 1 , accepting the proposal from
S::Two Inc. for library furniture for the new Carlsbad Library.
I ITEM EXPLANATION
As part of the process of outfitting the new Carlsbad library, staff requested proposals for the
provision and installation of custom built, wood library furniture. The furniture includes reading
tables, reading chairs, lounge chairs, computer workstation carrels and other high quality
furnishings.
In accordance with Section 3.28.140 of the Municipal Code, Requests for Proposals were sent
to fifteen contractors. Three proposals were received. The proposals were evaluated by the
Library and Purchasing Department staffs in the areas of cost, adherence to specifications,
quality of materials and construction of submitted samples, experience and references from
previous customers. Based on the results of the evaluation, Library staff and the Purchasing
Department recommend that the proposal of S::Two Inc., 163 Orchard, k-vine CA 92620, at a
cost not to exceed $367,950.00, be accepted. An evaluation summary is attached to this
agenda bill.
I FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for this system are a part of the budget for furnishing the new library.

RESOLUTION NO. w-61
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, ACCEPTING A PROPOSAL AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad requires furniture for the new Carlsbad Library, and;
WHEREAS, proper purchasing procedures have resulted in the receipt of proposals
from qualified contractors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as
follows:
1. The proposal of S::Two Inc., 163 Orchard, It-vine CA 92620 is hereby accepted.
2. The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order
for furniture to this contractor.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad held on the 16th day of February , 1999, by the
following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Nygaard and Kulchin
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Finnila
