RECOMMENDED ACTION:
,?I Adopt Resolution No. 99 accepting a donation of $12,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Carlsbad Arts Associates, “Friends of the Arts,” support the programs and services of the Carlsbad Arts Office. Over the 1998 summer, the Arts Associates worked hard to raise funds in support of the Arts Office’s TGIF Jazz in the Parks concert series.
A cadre of volunteers put in hundreds of hours of work to collect contributions at all ten concerts. This contribution enables the City to provide the extra support services such as a part time stage crew and shuttle buses that are now needed due to increased attendance.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total contribution is $12,000 and will be deposited into the Arts Special Events Fund and expended for the jazz concerts and special events.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
FROM THE CARLSBAD ARTS ASSOCIATES
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Office provides ‘a variety of quality cultural programs,
including all forms of visual and performing arts, to all Carl&ad residents”; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Carlsbad Arts Associates is to support the programs of the
Carlsbad Arts Office; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Associates is providing funds in the amount of $12,000 to
assist with the City’s summer jazz concert series and special events; and
WHEREAS, the $12,000 will be deposited in the Arts Office Special Events Fund .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
1. 2. That the above recitations are true and correct. That the donation of $12,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates is accepted and appropriated to the Arts Special Events Fund for the jazz concerts and special events.
