ACCEPTANCE OF
DONATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 99*&cepting a donation from Alan F. And Naomi A. Marblestone.
ITEM EXPLANATION
A 2,000 sq. ft. Gallery will be included in the new Carlsbad Library. The Gallery will address the
City Council’s educational and cultural goals and implement the goals of the General Plan. A Gallery
Committee was established to develop operational and fund-raising plans, to program the new
Gallery and to oversee the working of the Gallery.
~ The Committee determined the Gallery should provide excellent exhibitions and programs that will
enthuse visitors and inspire their further support. It should communicate to all who attend that the
City of Carlsbad is a city that sees quality art and culture as an integral part of city life. In order to
do that, the Committee and Arts Office intend to supplement city funding with funding from outside
sources; individual, corporate and foundation contributions. Mr. And Mrs. Marblestone have donated
$500 towards the Gallery which will be used for operation and exhibition expenses.
FISCAL IMPACT
The $500 donation will be deposited and appropriated into account no. 14740207550.

WHEREAS, Naomi A. And Alan ‘F. Marblestone have donated $500. towards the Gallery
which will be used for operating and exhibition expenses.
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
15 follows:
16 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the donation of $500 from Mr. And Mrs. Alan Marblestone for the Art Gallery is
17 hereby accepted. 3. That the $500 is hereby appropriated into the Arts Office’s Gallery Donations
18 Miscellaneous Outside Services account for the uses described herein.
19 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
20 City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 4 th. day of May , 1999, by the following vote,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A $500 DONATION FROM NAOMI A. AND ALAN F. MARBLESTONE FOR THE CARLSBAD ART GALLERY
WHEREAS, the Gallery, which will be located in the new Carlsbad Library will address
the City Council’s educational and cultural goals as well as implement the goals of the General
Plan, and
WHEREAS, a Gallery Committee was established to develop operational and fund-
raising plans, to program the new Gallery and to oversee the working of the Gallery; and
