RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 9 q-239 amending the Salary Schedule effective July 1, 1999, for
classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On March 9, 1999, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 99-78 approving a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association
(CPOA). The term of the MOU is two (2) years and will expire on December 3 1,200O.
The terms of the MOU with CPOA call for a 21/% general wage increase effective July 1,
1999. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for classifications represented by
the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $76,000 for FY
1999/00. These funds have been included in the 1999/00 Police Department operating
budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFICATIONS
REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICERS’
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Police Officers’
Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding
wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period January 1,1999 to
December 3 1,200O; and
WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement and submitted the
Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 21/2%
general wage increase effective July 1, 1999, and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included
in the Police Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 1999/00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Police Department Salary Schedule set forth in Exhibit A,
attached hereto and made a part thereof, is adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 6 th day of July , 1999, by the following
vote, to wit:
