RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. Gi’vai7 accepting donation of six hundred and sixty one dollars
($661) in cash in support of the Recreation Opportunity Grants Scholarship Fund.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The Carlsbad Recreation Department has been provided with a donation of cash totaling six
hundred and sixty one dollars ($661) by the following organization:
l Carlsbad Youth Baseball - Opportunity Grants (cash) $661
Total of Donation $661
The Recreation Opportunity Grants program gives youths who cannot normally afford to
participate an opportunity to experience a wide variety of City sponsored recreation programs.
Donated funds help to pay for the youth scholarships.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds have been deposited into account #149-4503-5651 (Recreation Special Events). These
donations fund the cost of the scholarship program.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
CASH DONATION OF SIX HUNDRED SIXTY ONE DOLLARS IN SUPPORT OF
3 THE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
4 WHEREAS, the Opportunity Grants Program began the week of June 1,1998; and
5 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has received a cash donation of six
6 hundred sixty one dollars ($661) from the Carlsbad Youth Baseball Association (Exhibit A); and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has recommended acceptance of this 7
donation by the City Council; and

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this donation and acknowledge the
generosity and support of the community individuals and organizations who donate to this
10 II program.
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
12 California, the following:
13 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. That the City Council does hereby accept the financial support totaling six
15 hundred sixty one dollars ($661) and authorizes the Finance Director to
16 appropriate the above funds for the specified use.
17 PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
18 City of Carlsbad, California, held on thel_3__ day of Julv , 1999, by the following vote to wit:
