TITLE :
RECEIPT OF DONATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. 9 9 -30 7 accepting donation from Mr. Don Pickett of a Ventura Combine
Bean Harvester estimated at a value of six thousand dollars ($6,000) in support of Leo Carrillo
Ranch Park.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
Mr. Don Pickett, of San Marcos, has donated a Ventura Combine Bean Harvester, dated early
1900’s, to be displayed for visitors of the new Carrillo Ranch Park (Exhibit 2).
From the 1930’s through the 1950’s, when most of the land in this area was devoted to
agriculture, this antique machine harvested crops at many of the nearby farms and ranches,
including Leo Carrillo Ranch.
A letter of appreciation will be sent on behalf of the Recreation Department to Mr. Pickett.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Fiscal impact to the general fund.

RESOLUTION NO. 99-304
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A
VENTURA COMBINE BEAN HARVESTER ESTIMATED AT A VALUE
OF SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,000) IN SUPPORT OF LEO
CARRILLO RANCH PARK
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, wishes to accept
this donation and acknowledge the generosity and support of Mr. Don Pickett who
donated this Bean Harvester.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the donation totaling six
thousand dollars ($6,000).
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 14 day of September , 1999, by the
following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Nygaard, Finnila, Hall & Kulchin
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
