CARLSBAD LIONS CLUB TO THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY AND APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE CITY ATTY. l LIBRARY GIFTS AND BEQUESTS FUND &L CITYMGR &- RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. $4 c YSO accepting a donation of $5,000 from the Carlsbad Lions Club and directing an appropriate letter of thanks. ITEM EXPLANATION: The Carlsbad Lions Club is donating $5,000 to the Carlsbad City Library for the purchase of a reading machine for the visually impaired, (Exhibit 2), and for the purchase of large print books. Donation is appropriated to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund. FISCAL IMPACT: None EXHIBITS: 1. Resolution No. 99 * 450 accepting a donation from the Carlsbad Lions Club. 2. Reading Machine Information sheet - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 99-450 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GIFT OF $5,000 FROM THE CARLSBAD LIONS CLUB AND APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE LIBRARY GIFTS AND BEQUESTS FUND. WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Lions Club has donated $5,000 to the library, and; WHEREAS, the library and the Carlsbad Lions Club have agreed that this onation will be used to purchase a reading machine and large print books; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of :arlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $5,000 from the Carlsbad Lions Club on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates these funds to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.
