RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 99-462
for eleven Ford Taurus sedans to Encinitas Ford.

ITEM EXPLANATION
Eleven intermediate sedans were budgeted for purchase this fiscal year. The
units to be replaced exceeded the age and mileage requirements of the City’s
vehicle replacement program.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders
was published and Requests for Bid were sent to ten vendors. Six bids were
opened on September 30, 1999, as listed below:

FISCAL IMPACT
Unencumbered funds are available in the Vehicle Replacement Capital Outlay
account for these vehicles.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF ELEVEN FORD TAURUS SEDANS
WHEREAS, Section 328.120 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides that
materials and services costing over twenty-five thousand dollars must be obtained through
formal bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, bid were submitted by six vendors and were judged against known
criteria;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cartsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the bid of Encinitas Ford is hereby accepted.
2. The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Order for
the purchase of eleven Ford Taurus Sedans in the amount of $186,582.05
including sales tax.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad held on the 19thday of October , 1999, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Lewis, Hall, Finnila, Nygaard, Kulchin
NOES: None.
