H 11-a-w MTG. _ _ _ AMENDMENT WITH PONDEROSA LANDSCAPE CITY ATTY AGREEMENT FOR PARK MAINTENANCE SERVICES 5 DEPT. PW CITY MGRS RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 99-476 authorizing the City Manager to execute the amendment to the agreement between the City of Carlsbad and Ponderosa Landscape for park maintenance services. ITEM EXPLANATION: On August 16, 1999, Council approved extending the parks maintenance agreement with Ponderosa Landscape, Inc. The agreement allows Ponderosa to perform basic landscaping maintenance at City ofices, park facilities, CMWD reservoir facilities, the I-5/La Costa Interchange and City Arts facility. Recently, staff approached Ponderosa and requested a maintenance quotation for Carrillo Ranch Slopes. Due to the significant amount of acreage, the City does not have the adequate amount of staffing to maintain this area. Contracting maintenance services for this area will not only be cost effective, but will also encourage desirable vegetation growth, protect the site from erosion, and present a well groomed appearance. Amending the initial agreement to reflect this additional service and fee (as described below) is required by C.M.C. Section 3.28.172. FISCAL IMPACT: The fee for the additional landscape maintenance service will be $36,180 annually. Funds will be appropriated. from the Miscellaneous Outside Services Fund (Account No. 150207550), in which adequate funding exists. EXHIBITS: 1.
