RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-512, amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code, by the amendment of Section 10.44.340, to establish a 45 mile per hour prima facie
speed limit upon Calle Barcelona, from El Camino Real to its intersection with Ranch0 Santa
Fe Road.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Ordinance No. NS-5 12 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
October 26, 1999. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance which
would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published
within fifteen days, if adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. 512
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 10.44340 TO ESTABLISH A
PRIMA FACIE 45 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON
CALLE BARCELONA FROM EL CAMINO REAL TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH RANCH0 SANTA FE ROAD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title IO, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
by the revision of Section 10.44.340 to read as follows:
“1 O-44.340 Calle Barcelona:
a. Upon Calle Barcelona from El Camino Real to its
intersection with Ranch0 Santa Fe Road, the prima facie speed
limit shall be forty-five miles per hour.
b. Upon Calle Barcelona from Ranch0 Santa Fe Road to its
intersection with Calle Acervo, the prima facie speed limit shall
be thirty miles per hour.”
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption
and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to
be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Cartsbad within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
26th day of October , 1999, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 2nd day of November , 1999 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Finnila, Nygaard and Kulchin
