This project involves the construction of Faraday Avenue from its existing westerly terminus to
Cannon Road. Features of the construction include the construction of sewer, water, recycled

traffic signal at the intersection and roadway surface improvements. The grading, storm drain
construction and slope landscaping were completed under a previous contract. Construction of
the street improvements is expected to take nine months.
On July 6, 1999, the City Council and the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water
District of Carlsbad, in a joint meeting, approved the plans and specifications for the Faraday Avenue Extension (Street Improvements) and directed the City Clerk of the City Council and the
Secretary of the Water Board to advertise for construction bids. On October 5, 1999, eight (8)
bids were received. The lowest responsive bidder was MJ Koch, Inc./El Cajon Grading &
Engineering, Inc., Joint Venture.
