ASSOCIATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution NodooO-12 amending the Salary Schedule effective January 1,200O
for classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On March 9, 1999, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 99-78 approving a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association
(CPOA). The term of the MOU is two (2) years and will expire on December 3 1,200O.
The terms of the MOU with CPOA call for a 3% general wage increase effective January
1, 2000. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for classifications represented
by the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association. The terms of the MOU also call for a $40
per month increase to the amount the City shall contribute on behalf of each active
employee towards the payment of premiums under the PERS health program effective
January 1,200O. Finally, the terms of the MOU call for an increase in uniform
reimbursement from $22.12 per pay period to $25 per pay period effective January 1,
2000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost of salary adjustments and related benefits, as well as the increases in the
City’s health insurance contribution and in the uniform reimbursement, is estimated at
$260,000. The fiscal impact of these increases on the FY 1999/00 budget is estimated at
$130,000. Sufficient funds are available from current appropriations in the 1999/00
Police Department operating budget.
