TITLE- ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION TO THE
CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY FROM THE LEICHTAG FAMILY
FOUNDATION, APPROVING THE NAMING OF THE
CHILDREN’S COMPUTER LAB, THE LEICHTAG FAMILY
FOUNDATION COMPUTER LAB, AND APPROPRIATING
THE FUNDS TO THE LIBRARY GIFTS & BEQUESTS FUND. CITY MGR%?
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. &Job -38 accepting a donation of $40,000 from the Leichtag Family
Foundation, approving the naming of the Children’s Computer Lab in the new library, The
Leichtag Family Foundation Computer Lab, and directing an appropriate letter of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Mr. Lee Leichtag , through the Leichtag Family Foundation, is donating $40,000 to support
and enhance the children’s computer lab in the new library. His donation will be used to
purchase a smart board, an LCD projector, a color scanner, digital camera, educational
software, subscriptions for online databases, and a computer workstation for handicapped.
The donation is appropriated to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund,
FISCAL IMPACT:
There will be no impact on the City’s General Fund.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. dbdb-38 accepting a donation from the Leichtag Family
Foundation to the Carlsbad City Library and approving the naming of the Children’s
Computer Lab in the new library The Leichtag Family Foundation Computer Lab.

RESOLUTION NO. 2000-38
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
ACCEPTING A DONATION TO THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY
FROM THE LEICHTAG FAMILY FOUNDATION, APPROVING
THE NAMING OF THE CHILDREN’S COMPUTER LAB, THE
LEICHTAG FAMILY FOUNDATION COMPUTER LAB AND
APPROPRIATING THE FUNDS.
WHEREAS, Mr. Leichtag wishes to donate $40,000 to the Carlsbad City Library;
,and
WHEREAS, Mr. Leichtag wishes to have the new library children’s computer lab
named “The Leichtag Family Foundation Computer Lab”; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby wishes to designate the children’s computer
lab in the new library as “The Leichtag Family Foundation Computer Lab “;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $40,000 from the Leichtag Family
Foundation on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates these
funds to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.
3. That the City Council designates the new library children’s computer lab as
“The Leichtag Family Foundation Computer Lab”.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, at a regular meeting held on the lst day of
February , 2000, by the following vote, to wit:

establish the Children’s Computer Lab at the Carlsbad City
Library in accordance with your letter dated October 14,
1999 and the itemized list of products to be purchased
with our donation.
The plaque acknowledging the donor should read:
“Donated by The Leichtag Family Foundation,” Name is to
appear in the room and on the donor wall.
Our Foundation welcomes the opportunity of helping
the young people to become better citizens as they are the
only future we have.
