RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. A OOO-(lk,ccepting a donation of $12,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Carlsbad Arts Associates, “Friends of the Arts,” support the programs and services of the Carlsbad Arts Office. During the 1999 summer, the Arts Associates worked hard to raise funds in support of the Arts Office’s TGIF Jazz in the Parks concert series.
A cadre of volunteers put in hundreds of hours of work to collect contributions at all ten concerts. This contribution enables the City to provide the extra support services such as a part time stage crew and shuttle buses that are now needed due to increased attendance and follows City Council’s Operational Goal Dl, I‘... maintain and enhance programs that result in an informed, knowledgeable and involved public...“.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total contribution is $12,000 and will be deposited into account no. 14840107899.

1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
2 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE CARLSBAD ARTS ASSOCIATES
3 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Office. provides “a variety of quality cultural programs,
4 including all forms of visual and performing arts; to all Carlsbad residents”; and
5 WHEREAS, the purpose of the Carlsbad Arts Associates is to support the programs of the.
6 Carlsbad Arts Off ice; and
7 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Associates is providing funds in the amount of $12,000 to
8 assist with the City’s summer jazz concert series and special events; and
9 WHEREAS, the $12,000 will be deposited in the Arts Office Special Events Fund .
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as

That the above recitations are true and correct. That the donation of $12,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates is accepted. That the funds are hereby deposited into the Arts Office’s Special Events Miscellaneous Outside Services-account.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 8th day of February , 2000, by the following vote,
