OF ARENAL ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. d&M-& accepting the construction of the Arenal Road
Reconstruction, Project No. 3590, as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a
Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City
Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On, April 20, 1999, HT Development and Construction, Inc. was awarded a contract in the
amount of $91,923 for construction of the Arenal Road Reconstruction. This project
provided for the narrowing of a 300-foot portion of Arenal Road on the west side of El
Camino Real to reduce the curb-to-curb width. In addition, the reconstruction replaced the
“T” intersection of Columbine Drive and Arenal Road with a knuckle configuration. This
narrowing will help reduce the likelihood of motorists using Arenal Road as an access into
the Aviara area.
HT Development and Construction, Inc. completed the work on February 4, 2000. City
forces have inspected said work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends formal
acceptance by the City Council.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION
OF ARENAL ROAD RECONSTRUCTION. PROJECT NO. 3590.
WHEREAS, the construction of Arenal Road Reconstruction has been satisfactorily
completed; and
WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the construction of Arenal Road Reconstruction, specifically identified as
Project No. 3590, is deemed complete and hereby accepted.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to execute
the Notice of Completion and have same recorded.
4. That bonds will be released in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
Council held on the Uth.day of February , 2000 by the following vote, to wit:
