RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.$?b00 -I If accepting donations in the amount of $18,505 from the Carlsbad
Library Foundation, Carltas & The Flower Fields and Mrs. Teresa M. Cannon.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Carlsbad Library Foundation has donated $15,000 and Carltas and the Flower Fields has
donated $2,500 to the City of Carlsbad to underwrite the glass exhibition, “The Glass Sanctuary”
featuring the works of Maestro Pino Signoretto and Amber Hauch, on display at the William D.
Cannon Art Gallery from March 10 through April 26, 2000. The glass exhibit is the first showing in
the United States of the Italian artist’s work. Funds will be used to cover the costs for the artists, for
shipping the artwork from and to Italy and program information.
Mrs. Teresa M. Cannon has also donated $1,005 to the City for the Cannon Art Gallery. The funds
will be used to supplement exhibitions and educational programming at the Gallery.
The three donations comply with City Council’s goal to “implement innovative, cost effective
delivery of City Services via public/public and public/private partnerships and non-profit
organizations...“.
FISCAL IMPACT
The funds will be deposited and appropriated into account no. 14740207553. A total of $51,570.90
has been raised from private donations for support of the gallery.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS
WHEREAS, one of City Council’s goals is to “implement innovative, cost effective delivery
of City Services via public/public and public/private partnerships and non-profit
organizations...“.; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Library Foundation has donated $15,000 and Carltas and the
Flower Fields has donated $2,500 to the City of Carlsbad to underwrite the glass exhibition, “The

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
follows:

That the above recitations are true and correct. That the City Council accepts- $17,500 from. the Carlsbad Library Foundation and Carltas & The Flower Fields to underwrite the glass exhibition at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery. That the City Council accepts’s $1,005 donation from Mrs. Teresa M. Cannon to supplement exhibitions and ed.ucational programming at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate these funds in the Gallery Donations Community Arts Support Account and the funds are used for the purposes described herein.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 11 th day of ADril , 2000, by the following
vote, to wit:
