MTG. 4/l l/00 INSTALLATION OF SIDEWALK, CURBING AND CONCRETE
SURFACING AROUND THE TOT LOT AT HOLIDAY PARK
DEPT. PWlGS CONTRACT NO. POO-03
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 6? 000 - /I 5 approving contract documents, special provisions and specifications, and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for installation of concrete,
sidewalk and curbing around the perimeter of the tot lot at Holiday Park Contract No. POO-03.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The tot lot barrier (old utility poles) at Holiday Park is in need of upgrading. The current wooden
sand delineator is approximately 19 years old and in poor condition. The Safety Audit has also
identified this structure as needing corrective attention. The plans call for a concrete sidewalk
perimeter with standard curbing, as well as concrete picnic/seating areas at each end of the tot lot.
These improvements will provide a safer, cleaner and more easily maintainable tot lot facility at
Holiday Park. The estimated cost for these improvements is $30,000, which includes
contingencies. Contract documents and plans are on file in the Public Works/General Services office. This project will address the Council Goal as described below.
“Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of top-quality services to our community.”
This project is also one of several C.I.P projects that are identified as one of the Goals for Public
Works/General Services. This specific Goal is described as follows:
“Coordinate the implementation of General Services Improvement projects which include
C.I.P., ADA, safety modifications and facility renovations/upgrade projects to provide users with
top-quality facilities.”
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
This project has been determined to be exempt from environmental review per CEQA - Class 1 (c),
Minor alteration of existing facility.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost for this project is $30,000. The current Parks Operations budget has funds in Miscellaneous Outside Services to complete this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS, SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SIDEWALK, CURBING AND
CONCRETE SURFACING AROUND THE TOT LOT AT HOLIDAY
PARK
WHEREAS, the contract documents, special provisions and specifications for the
furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary to provide tot lot upgrade at Holiday
Park, Contract No. POO-03 have been prepared and are on file in the Public Works/General
Services and are incorporated by reference herein; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available for this project in the Parks Operation budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the contract documents, special provisions and specifications as presented
are hereby approved.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
proceed to publish, in accordance with law, Notice Inviting Bids for the work of said contract
documents, special provisions and specifications.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 11 th day of April , 2000 by the following vote, to wit:
