Adopt Resolution No. 2000-196 , accepting cash donation of three hundred dollars ($300) in
support of the Opportunity Grants Scholarship Program and six hundred dollars ($600) in support
of the Summer Day Camp Brochure.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
The Carlsbad Recreation Department has been provided with cash donations totaling nine
hundred dollars ($900). The following individuals and organizations offered donations in support
of the listed programs:
l George Balteria - Opportunity Grants Scholarship Program (cash) $300
l Ken Grody Ford - Day Camp Brochure (cash) $400
l Mission Federal Credit Union - Day Camp Brochure (cash) $200
TOTAL OF DONATION $900
The Recreation Opportunity Grants Program gives youths who cannot normally afford to
participate an opportunity to experience a wide variety of City sponsored recreation programs.
Donated funds help pay for youth scholarships.
The Recreation Department produces a booklet each year detailing the summer camp programs.
Donations from local businesses offset the cost of producing this booklet.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of three hundred dollars ($300) have been deposited into the scholarship
account #140-4515-5650. Funds in the amount of six hundred dollars ($600) have been
deposited into the Recreation Special Events Trust account #149-4503-5651. All donations offset
the cost to the City in providing scholarships and publishing the Day Camp Booklet.

RESOLUTION NO. 2000-196
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
CASH DONATION OF NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($900) IN SUPPORT OF
THE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS SCHOLARSHIP FUND AND THE SUMMER
DAY CAMP BROCHURE.
WHEREAS, the Opportunity Grants Program began the week of June 21, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has received a cash donation of three
hundred dollars ($300) from George Balteria, $400 from Ken Grody Ford, and $200 from Mission
Federal Credit Union; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has recommended acceptance of this
donation by the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this donation and acknowledge the
generosity and support of the community individuals and organizations who donate to this
program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the financial support totaling nine
hundred ($900) and authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the above
funds for the specified use.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, held on the EMay of June , 2000, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Nygaard and Kulchin
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Members Lewis and Finnila
