I RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. ~000 *a I 3 approving contract documents, special provisions and
specifications, and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids to furnish and install a new roof at
Stagecoach and Calavera Community Centers, Contract No. FAC 01-01.

ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City established a roof rehabilitation program several years ago to systematically replace roofs
before they failed. Stagecoach Community Center, which was constructed in 1986, and Calavera
Community Center, which was constructed in 1989, are now due to have their roofs replaced. Both
roofs have leaked and have had to be repaired in recent storms. Replacement of the roofs will
protect the structure and the equipment inside and will eliminate inconvenience to the occupants.
The new roofs can be expected to last twenty years and will cost an estimated $132,000 to furnish
and install both roofs. Contract documents and plans are on file in the Public Works/General
Services office. This project will address the Council Goal as described below.
“Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of top-quality services to our community.”
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
This project has been determined to be exempt from environmental review per CEQA - Class 1 (c), Minor alteration of existing facility.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost for this project is $132,000. Funding is available in the Capital Improvement
Program budget.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS TO FURNISH AND INSTALL A NEW ROOF AT
STAGECOACH AND CALAVERA COMMUNITY CENTERS
7 WHEREAS, the contract documents, special provisions and specifications for the
8 furnishing of all labor, material and equipment necessary to furnish and install a new roof at
g Stagecoach and Calavera Community Centers, Contract No. FAC 01-01 have been prepared and
10 are on file in the Public Works/General Services and are incorporated by reference herein; and
11 WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available for this project in the Capital Improvement
Program Budget.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
13 California, as follows:
14 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
15 2. That the contract documents, special provisions and specifications on file are
I6 hereby approved.
17 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
18 proceed to publish, in accordance with law, Notice Inviting Bids for the work of said contract
1g documents, special provisions and specifications.
