Henberger Company Inc., and authorizing the execution of a purchase order. I ITEM EXPLANATION The City’s Public Works Department uses special paint and paint additives to apply striping to City streets. To maximize safety and efficiency at the lowest reasonable cost, the Streets Division has experimented with different formulas of marking supplies. The use of some of these materials have resulted in equipment failure and lost working time. The Streets Division has determined that TMT-Pathway Waterbase Paint and Potter’s Type I glass highway spheres to be the best choices for their striping work. While these two types of supplies are the most critical to the striping operation, they also have been the most difficult to obtain. Since the expected annual cost of these supplies will exceed $25,000 annually, and to assure availability, the Purchasing Department sent requests for bids to ten vendors in accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code. Three responsive bids were received and are shown in the table below. Based on the totals, staff recommends the bid be awarded to John C. Henberger Company Inc. . John C. Henberger Company Inc. $29,846.05 TMT-Pathway, LLC $35,596.13 Sherwin Williams, Vista CA $37,926.65 I FISCAL IMPACT Funds for pavement marking supplies are included in the annual Public Works Department operating budget.
