RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Request that the City Council continue this item until the Registrar of Voters General
Municipal election canvass been received by the City Clerk.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Municipal Code 2.04.050 states that the City Council meet on the first Tuesday after the
General Municipal election for the purpose of appointing individual members of the City
Council to boards, commissions, committees and other bodies as the council may find
necessary for the reorganization and effective functioning of the City Council.
Because the Registrar of Voters has not returned the canvass of the General Municipal
election to the City Clerk on this date, Council appointments cannot be made at this time.
Attached to this agenda bill is a list of the current Council committee assignments. This list
includes only those committee appointments, which are made by the Mayor. It does not
include those committees on which various council members serve as a result of their
appointments by other agencies.
