AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
THE 2000 STREET SEALING PROJECT CITY All-Y.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. do00 ‘34 d approving plans and specifications and authorization to advertise for construction of the 2000 Street Sealing Project No. 36673.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The 2000 Street Sealing Project is par-l of the City’s ongoing Pavement Management Program which extends the life of City streets by providing ongoing maintenance. This project will seal coat selected roadways throughout the City (as shown in Exhibit 1). The seal coat will protect the existing road surface from water penetration damage. Streets selected for this type of repair are typically in relatively good condition and are not in need of structural repairs.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
This project is categorically exempt from the environmental review process under Section 15301 Class 1 (C) of the California Environmental Quality Act.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost to complete this project is:
Construction (Engineer’s Estimate) $751,000 .
Construction Contingency (15%) $113,000
Project Management, Administration, & Inspection (10%) $ 75,000
TOTAL $939,000
As of September 30, 2000, the available balance in the Pavement Management Program (36671) is $2,150,000.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to resurface asphalt streets; and
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for furnishing of all labor, material, tools,
equipment, transportation and other expenses necessary or incidental for said project have been
prepared and are on tile in the Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are
incorporated by reference herein; and

WHEREAS, there are sufficient TransNet appropriations available to complete the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents as presented are hereby
approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to publish,
in accordance with State law, Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for the 2000 Street Sealing
Project, Project No. 36673.
19 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
20 held on the zktday of November 2006 by the following vote, to wit: A
