RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 200 /- 2 7 accepting a donation of $39,450 from the
Friends of the Carlsbad Library, appropriating the funds and directing an appropriate letter
of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $39,450 to the Library for FY 2000-2001.
The donated funds will be used for the following purposes:
Purchase of reference materials $ 8,500
E-Book research 5,000
Support Children’s Programs
Dove Library 14,000
Cole Li brat-y 5,700
Centro de lnformacion 1,000
Computer and Printer for Centro de lnformacion 3,000
Glass Display cases for Cole and Dove 2,250
TOTAL $ 39,450
Donation is appropriated to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.

EXHIBITS:

RESOLUTION NO.2001-27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GIFT OF
$39,450 FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY AND
APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE LIBRARY GIFTS
AND BEQUESTS FUND.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $39,450 to
the library, and;
WHEREAS, the library and the Friends have agreed that this donation
will be used in support of children’s programs, purchase of library reference
materials, E-book research, display cases for Dove and Cole Libraries and
computer hardware for the Centro;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $39,450 from the Friends
of the Library on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates
these funds to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 13th day of
February , 2001, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Finnila, Nygaard and Hall.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
