PCH RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No z&I / -<3.5- , approving the purchase of eight police patrol sedans from Ken Grody Ford. ITEM EXPLANATION: Funds are appropriated in the 2000-2001 fiscal year budget to purchase of eight police patrol vehicles. Six units will replace vehicles currently in the fleet that have exceeded the age and mileage requirements of the City’s vehicle replacement program. Two units will be additions to the fleet. Section 3.26160 of Carlsbad Municipal Code allows the Purchasing Officer to purchase equipment through cooperative purchasing programs with the other public agencies when the agency has made their purchase in a competitive manner. On October 19, 2000, following a formal bidding process, the City of Oceanside received the lowest responsive bid for twelve police patrol sedans from Ken Grody Ford. The price per vehicle was $21,779.00 excluding sales tax. The price paid per vehicle last year was $21,198.60 plus tax. This bid included a public agency clause, allowing other governmental agencies to purchase like units under a Cooperative Purchase Arrangement. FISCAL IMPACT: Unencumbered funds are available in the Vehicle Replacement Capital Outlay Account and the Police Field Operations Account for this purchase. EXHIBITS: 1. Resolution No. d@ 1-3s I 5 l( 11 1; 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-35 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF EIGHT POLICE PATROL VEHICLES WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad wishes to purchase eight patrol vehicles, and; WHEREAS, Section 3.28.160 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides that the City may participate in cooperative purchasing programs with other public agencies, and; WHEREAS, the City of Oceanside used formal bidding procedures, with a public agency clause, to purchase patrol vehicles, and; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order to Ken Grody Ford in the amount of $187.299.40 including sales tax. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of .
