RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If Council concurs, that Staff be directed to conduct a public outreach workshop on the proposed
revisions to the City’s Sign Ordinance.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
By minute motion, the Planning Commission at its meeting June 20, 2001 asked that Council direct
staff to hold a workshop with the business community, developers and residents on the proposed
changes to the Sign Ordinance. The Commission heard the Sign Ordinance and received testimony
from the public at its meetings June 6, (Special Meeting) June 13, and June 20. At each meeting,
the speakers expressed their concern and dissatisfaction with the process in that workshops weren’t
held to allow for input from those who might wish to offer it.
Staff concurs with the Commission, and would recommend that a public outreach workshop be scheduled at the earliest possible time, in order to obtain input from anyone interested in the
process.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Staff time to prepare for and conduct the workshop, along with noticing costs and reproduction
expenses for copies of the proposed amendment to the Sign Ordinance.
