2001 USER CONFERENCE IN DEPT. FIN/PW NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA CITY MGR
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. &/-dd /approving out-of-state travel for a representative from
Finance and Public Works to attend the Harris Computer Systems 2001 User Conference
in New Orleans, Louisiana.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad utilizes the Harris Computer Systems for Utility Billing. This
conference will promote communication between users to enhance the effective use of
the software applications.
FISCAL IMPACT:
When the FY 2001-02 Finance and Public Works Budgets were developed, staff did not
know about the 2001 User Conference and did not include it in their travel budgets. The
cost for a representative from Finance and Public Works to attend the one-day workshop
and two-day meeting will be approximately $4,000 ($2,000 per person). Staff is requesting
the Council approve attendance to the Harris Computer Systems 2001 User Conference.
Funds are available both in the Finance and Water Operations Budgets.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING OUT-OF-STATE
TRAVEL FOR A REPRESENTATIVE FROM FINANCE AND
PUBLIC WORKS TO AlTEND THE HARRIS COMPUTER
SYSTEMS 2001 USER CONFERENCE
WHEREAS, The Harris Computer Systems 2001 User Conference is an educational
and informational forum;
WHEREAS, the City Council concurs that it is in the public interest to authorize out-
of-state travel for a representative from Finance and Public Works to attend the Harris
Computer Systems 2001 User Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are correct;
2. That out-of-state travel is hereby authorized, in accordance with City Policy, for a
representative from Finance and Public Works to attend the Harris Computer Systems 2001
User Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana;
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council on
the 24th day of July , 2001, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, , and Hall.
NOES: None.
