RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-599 amending Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code by the revision of Section 10.44.090 to establish a prima facie 50 mile per hour speed
limit upon Alga Road from El Camino Real to its intersection with Melrose Drive.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. NS-599 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on
August 7, 2001. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance, which
would then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published
within fifteen days, if adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44,
OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE REVISION OF
SECTION 10.44.090 TO ESTABLISH A PRIMA FACIE 50 MILE PER
HOUR SPEED LIMIT UPON ALGA ROAD FROM EL CAMINO REAL
TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH MELROSE DRIVE.
6 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
7 SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
8 by the revision of Section 10.44.090 to read as follows:

“1044.090 Alsa Road. Upon Alga Road from El Camino Real to
its intersection with Melrose Drive the prima facie speed limit shall be fifty miles per hour.”
11 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption
12 and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to
13 be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within
14 fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
15 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
16 7th day of Auqust ,2001, and thereafter,
17 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsb.ad City Council
‘8 held on the 21st day of Auqust , 2001 by the following vote, to wit:
19 AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, and Nygaard.
