CLK CITY MGR. -F RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution Nos. 2001- d?‘a ,2001- 271 , and 2001- d7& , appointing three members to the Planning Commission. I ITEM EXPLANATION: The term of Bill Compas expired in April, 2001. Mr. Compas was originally appointed in May, 1994, was reappointed in June, 1997, and has served seven years. The term of Robert Nielsen expired in April, 2001. Mr. Nielson was originally appointed in May, 1994, was reappointed in June, 1997, and has served seven years. In addition, Ann L’Heureux has resigned as a member of the Planning Commission. She was originally appointed in December, 1998, to a term which will expire in April, 2002. In accordance with Section 2.24.020 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, members are appointed by a majority vote of the City Council; and in accordance with Section 2.08.090 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, members must be residents of the City and registered voters. Two appointees will serve four year terms, which shall expire in April, 2005. One appointee, will serve the remainder of a term expiring in April, 2002. Other members of the Planning Commission are: Julie Baker, Courtney Heineman, Seena Trigas and Jeff Segall. NOTE: Members of the Planning Commission are subject to the Political Reform Act and must file Statements of Economic Interests. I EXHIBITS: 1. I believe I can bring a significant amount of experience to the planning commission position and can be an asset and contributor to the community. While serving on the San Bernardino Parks Commission, I wrote a report fir the Commission and appeared before the board of supervisors for fbnding for the Regional Parks System.
