ACCEPTANCE OF A NEW ROOF
AT FIRE STATION NO. 5
CONTRACT NO. FAC02-04 CITY MGR 3
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.J300&001 \ accepting the work in accordance with
Contract No. FAC02-04 as complete, and direct the City Clerk to have the Notice of
Completion recorded and to release the bonds thirty-five (35) days after recordation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On December 4, 2001, the City Council awarded a contract to Commercial &
Industrial Roofing Company, Inc. for $72,976. Contract No. FACO2-04 is for a new
roof at Fire Station No. 5. Fire Station No. 5, which was constructed in 1989, was
due to have its roof replaced. The roof was leaking and had been repaired in recent
storms. Replacement of the roof will protect the structure and equipment inside and
will eliminate inconvenience to the occupants. Under the City's new preventive
maintenance program, the new roof can be expected to last between fifteen to twenty
years.
The actual construction took a total of 30 working days from start to finish, and this
project is now complete. The contractor work is acceptable to the Public Works
ManagerlGeneral Services and to the Public Works Supervisor - Facilities
Maintenance.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost for this project is $72,976. There are sufficient funds available in the
C.I.P. Program budget for this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
DIRECTING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR FURNISHING AND INSTALLING A NEW ROOF AT FIRE STATION NO. 5
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORK AS COMPLETE AND
WHEREAS, the Ci Council of the City of Carlsbad has previously appropriated funds for
urnishing and installing a new roof at Fire Station No. 5, hereinafter referred to as the "Project;"

WHEREAS, the City Council has previously awarded a contract for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Project work has been satisfactory completed; and
WHEREAS, a Notice of Completion has been prepared for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest
3 accept the completed work for furnishing and installing a new roof at Fire Station No.5.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the completed work is' hereby accepted and the City Clerk is directed to record
le Notice of Completion and to release the bonds thirty-five days after recordation for said
'roject.
