RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2002-154 accepting funds from the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) in
the amount of $4,000 for the use of arts education and programming by the City and authorizing
appropriation of these funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Cultural Arts Office has been working in partnership with EUSD for the past several years to
develop and implement an arts education school/community plan.
As part of this plan, the City will provide two educational curriculum packets for teachers to use
to teach students in conjunction with exhibitions held in the William D. Cannon Art Gallery.
City Council is asked to accept $4,000 in payment for services provided by the Arts OfFice from
EUSD. The donation will be used to pay for additional educational curriculum packets.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Staff requests the Finance Director be authorized to appropriate $4,000 into the Gallery General
Fund account.

RESOLUTION NO. 2002-154
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ENClNlTAS
UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT AND AUTHORIZING THE APPORPRIATION
OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad and Encinitas Union School District have partnered
on arts education grants for the past several years to develop and implement an arts
education plan; and
WHEREAS, as a part of the implementation of the plan, the Encinitas Union School
District has agreed to provide the City with $4,000 to continue to provide services related
to arts education programming in the William D. Cannon Gallery; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Encinitas Union School District have entered into
agreement to outline the services to be provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, the funds received will be used to offset costs incurred for services provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That payment in the amount of $4,000 is accepted and the .Finance 3irector is
hereby authorized to appropriate $4,000 into the Gallery General Fund account for
the uses described herein.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad. California, held on the 4th day of JUNE ,2002, by the
following vote, to wit:

This document se’rves as a Letter of Agreement between the CITY OF CARLSBAD, a
municipal corporation, hereillafter referred to as ‘‘City’’ and the ENC~ITAS IJWION
SCHOOL DISTRICT, hereinafter referred to as “EUSD”.
CITY and EUSD agree that the CITY will provide two educational cumculum packets
for EUSD teachers to utilize for professional development. The educational cumculum
packets were created in conjunction with the Second and Third Annual Juried Exhibitions
in the William D. Cannon Art Gallery.
CITY and EUSD agree that the CITY will receive $4,000 upon billing by the CITY to
perform the above services from EUSD as a part of reimbursement.
This Agreement may be modified by mutual consent of the CITY and EUSD. Any
changes shall be made in writing.
