RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council Adopt Resolution No. 2002-155 accepting a donation of $15,000 from the Carlsbad
Arts Associates and authorizing appropriation of these funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Over the past 16 years, the City of Carlsbad has presented TGIF Jazz concerts in the parks.
The Carlsbad Arts Associates, the non-profit support organization of the City's Cultural Arts Office, has
$15,000, which it is donating to the City. These funds will be used to offset costs incurred by the City
raised funds to support these concerts since 1990. During the 2001 series, the Arts Associates raised
for support services during the concerts such as providing a shuttle for concert attendees, porta-toilets
and part-time staff.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The costs of providing support services for the concert series vanes with each concert but will not
exceed $15,000. The Arts Office requests the Finance Director be authorized to appropriate the
$15,000 donation in the Cultural Arts Office Special Events account.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE CARLSBAD ARTS
ASSOCIATFS AND APPROP-s
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad has been presenting TGIF Jazz in the parks concerts
for 16 years; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Carlsbad Arts Associates is to support the programs of
the City's Cultural Arts Office: and
WHEREAS, the Arts Associates have raised funds to support the jazz concerts since
1990 and raised $15,000 over the 2001 series: and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Associates is donating $15,000 to assist with the
2002 summer jazz concert series; and
WHEREAS, the donated funds will be used to offset costs incurred with providing
support services during the concerts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as
follows:
2. That the donation of $15,000 from the Carlsbad Arts Associates is accepted.
1. That the above recitaiions are true and correct.
3. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to appropriate the $15,000 donation into the Cultural Arts Special Events account.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the &day of JUNE , 2002, by the
following vote, to wit:
