THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION AVIARACOMMUNITY DEPT. HD.
APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE LIBRARY GIFTS
FUND TO THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY AND
CITY MGR AND BEQUESTS FUND.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2002-165 accepting a donation of $7,000 from The San
Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund, appropriating the funds and directing an
appropriate letter of thanks to accompany acknowledgment form.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund, at the recommendation of Aviara
Community Fund Advisory Committee, has donated $7,000.00 to the Carlsbad City Library
For the purpose of improving the children’s section of the library.
The donation is appropriated to the Library Gifts and Bequests Fund.
FISCAL IMPACT: None

RESOLUTION NO. 2002 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
GIFT OF $7,000 FROM THE SAN DIEGO
FOUNDATION AVIARA COMMUNITY FUND,
APPROPRIATING DONATION TO THE LIBRARY
GIFTSAND BEQUESTS FUND.
WHEREAS, The San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund at the
recommendation of Aviara Community Fund Advisory Committee, has donated
$7,000 to the Carlsbad City Library, and;
WHEREAS, The San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund has
expressed the purpose of the donation is for improving the children’s section of
the library;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $7,000 from The San
Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund on behalf of all citizens
of Carlsbad, and hereby appropriates these funds to the Library
Gifts and Bequests Fund.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 11th ‘day of
JUNE , 2002, by the following vote, to wit:

Dear Dr. hange:
We take great pleasure in sending you this check in the amount of $7,000.00 from
The San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund. The purpose of this
grant is for improving the children's section of the library. This grant is made at the
recommendation of Aviara Community Fund Advisory Committee.
The San Diego Foundation grant funds may be expended only for charitable,
scientific, literary or educational purposes. This grant is made only for the purposes
stated in this letter. Any grant funds not expended for the purpose of the grant
within one year, or time specified in grant letter, will be returned directly to The San
Diego Foundation. Periodic updates may be requested.
Neither The Foundation nor the donor shall be provided with any goods or services
as a result of this grant. Grants will not be used to pay personal pledges made by
the donor.
The Grantee agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Foundation and its
agents and employees from any liability, loss, cost, injury, damage or other expense
that may be incurred by The Foundation or claimed by any third person against it as
a result of The Foundation's funding of the Project or any action or non-action taken
in connection with the Project
The San Diego Foundation's purpose is to improve the quality of life in all our communities
by promoting and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy.
