RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2002-167 accepting the work in accordance with Contract No.
FAC02-07 as complete, and direct the City Clerk to have the Notice of Completion recorded
and to release the bonds thirty five (35) days after recordation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On December 4, 2001, the City Council awarded a contract to Randall Construction for
$115,988. Contract No. FACO2-07 is for improvements at Heritage Hall and the Granary
Building. Improvements included entrance ramps and accessible doorways at both buildings
to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Other improvements at
Heritage Hall included accessible restrooms, installing a new finished floor, and removing
and installing new kitchen fixtures (Le. sink, cabinets, paper towel and soap dispenser) to
comply with ADA standards.
There was one change order that increased the contract amount by $7,044. The change
order allowed the contractor to remove and replace termite-damaged wood in the kitchen,
install fixtures (exhaust fan, plywood, bolts, etc.) and paint the picket fence that were to be
lefl natural.
The actual construction took a total of 85 working days from start to finish, and this project is
now complete. The contractor’s work is acceptable to the Public Works ManagerIGeneral
Services and to the Public Works Supervisor.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds were previously appropriated in the C.I.P. adoption and sufficient funds are available
for this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORK AS COMPLETE AND DIRECTING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR REMODELING HERITAGE HALL AND THE GRANARY BUILDING
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has previously appropriated funds for
the remodeling of Heritage Hall and the Granary Building, hereinafter referred to as the "Project;"
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously awarded a contract for the Project: and
WHEREAS, the Project work has been satisfactory completed: and
WHEREAS, a Notice of Completion has been prepared for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds it necessary, desirable, and in the public interest
to accept the completed work for the Heritage Hall and Granary Building remodel project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cadsbad as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the completed work is hereby accepted and the City Clerk is directed to record
the Notice of Completion and to release the bonds thirty-five days after recordation for said
Project.
