RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2002- 307 appointing one member to the Traffic Safety
Commission.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Keith Gillfillan has resigned from the Traffic Safety Commission, effective August 5, 2002.
The vacated term expires in July, 2004.
Other members of the Traffic Safety Commission are: James Courtney, Howard Heffner,
Robert Mertz and Jerome Schall.

RESOLUTION NO. 2002-307
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER TO
THE CARLSBAD TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Keith Gillfillan has resigned as a member of the Traffic Safety
Commission from a term that expires in July, 2004;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the
Carlsbad Traffic Safety Commission for a term to expire in July, 2004:

Dear Mayor Lewis, L
It has been a pleasure serving on the Traffic Safety Commission for the City of Carlsbad
during the past 6 years. Due to pressing commitments with my hll-time occupation I
would like to resign my positioh as a Traffic Safety Commissioner effective as soon as a
replacement can be found.
I found my term as a Commissioner enlightening and informative and would welcome
the opportunity to serve on other commissiondcommittees in the future. The City’s
traffic and police department staff is to be commended, particularly Mr. Bob Johnson for
their time and effort in explaining and discussing various issues with the Traffic Safety
Commission so that we could be more effective in our decision making.
