HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-12-17; City Council; 17012; Revised Salary Schedule Firefighters' Associationz 0 F 0 a qECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2002-361 amending the Salary Schedule effective January 1, 2003, for classifications represented by the Carlsbad Firefighters' Association. ITEM EXPLANATION: On January 24,2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2002-030 approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Firefighters' Association (CFA). The term of the MOU is five (5) years and will expire on December 3 1,2006. The terms of the MOU with CFA call for a 3.25% general wage increase effective the pay period inclusive of January 1,2003. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for classifications represented by the Carlsbad Firefighters' Association. FISCAL IMPACT: The annual cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $1 57,600. The fiscal impact of these increases on the FY 2002/03 budget is estimated at $78,800. Sufficient funds are available from current appropriations in the 2002/03 Fire Department operating budget. EXHIBITS: 1. Resolution No. 2002-361 2. WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Firefighters' Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period January 1,2002, to December 3 1,2006; and WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement aid submitted the Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 3.25% general wage "Increase effective the pay period including January 1,2003, and WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included in the Fire Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 2002103. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
